Harassment in Arad

A couple of weeks ago I blogged about the hate-fest in Ashdod directed against Messianic Jews in the city. Recently, similar protests have been held in another Israeli city, Arad. Going back to 2006, Arad has been the location of many violent acts directed against Messianic Jews, especially by the Gur Chassidim. Messianic Jews have been harassed, fired from their jobs, physically attacked, and protested against. This is despite the fact that Messianic Jews are faithful citizens, contribute to the greater good of the country, serve in elite military units, own businesses, and even serve in the government.

Yet, there are individuals and groups within Israel who violently oppose Messianic Jews. Below is a recent news segment from Israel's Channel 1 News on the demonstrations in Arad directed toward Messianic Jews:

    As someone who has undergone persecution of this type(though not to this extent) I am somewhat disappointed in the general Messianic response, which seems to be to get angry and such. That is not our mandate, but rather, "How blessed you are when people insult you and persecute you and tell all kinds of vicious lies about you because you follow me!Rejoice, be glad, because your reward in heaven is great- they persecuted the prophets before you in the same way."
